Mario continued to struggle with his bottle feeding skills today. He started out the early morning ok, but throughout the day lost interest and/or had episodes that made us stop bottle feeding and just gavage feed the rest. We're just sticking with it and keep trying him with the bottle. We try to remain optimistic that things will just "click" again and he'll go back to taking a bottle really well. Though, it is really frustrating to watch him struggle and not be able to do anything to help him. This is one thing he has to do on his own.
He didn't have any non-feed related episodes today, so that is a good thing. He did pull his feeding tube out today and we were really hoping to not have to put it back in, but we all agree that he still needs it so the nurse put a new one in. We'll just take it day by day and hopefully he won't have to have it in too much longer.
His weight was up again tonight. He now weighs 5lbs, 10.4oz, a gain of 1.2oz from last night. Since it's Sunday, he also got his measurements done. His head circumference grew by .5 cm to 32.5cm and he grew 4cm in length to 48cm (which is about 19 inches).
Dom and I spent much of the day at the hospital again today. We got there around noon and left around 4pm to get some dinner and go to Babies R Us to get things like his carseat and such. We then went back for both the 9pm and midnight feedings. I breastfed at noon and 9pm and we tried the bottle the other times. He continues to thrive with breastfeeding.
So, we continue our waiting game. I'm sure the little man will have everything click into place soon. . .I hope :)

Hey, I loved the picture of Mario on Mommy's shoulder.
He will get the hang of the bottle before you know it. He sure doesn't like that feeding tube.
Hang in there! He will be at home in his own bed before you know it.
