Updates: January 17th - 15 days old

Today was kind of a lazy day for Mario. He was pretty sleepy and wasn't interested in either his 6am or 9am bottles. He also wasn't too interested in breastfeeding at noon. However, he was awake and alert at 3pm for that breastfeeding session and was also interested in it at 9pm.

He seems to be having less episodes, both those requiring outside stimulation (the ones he gets written up for) and the self-stims. So, they are trying to lower the head of his bed a little. He had it so high he was practically upright and we all joked that he was on his mountain or ski slope.

His feeds were increased to 39mL/feed and the resident explained to us how they calculate how much he should eat per feeding. She also explained to us how they calculate how much extra stuff he needs added to his food in terms of fortifiers (i.e., BM22, BM24 - which he is now on, etc.). The resident also really liked my breastfeeding log and said they all read it during rounds.

He gained 2 oz overnight and is now up to 4lbs, 10oz. He's gaining weight like a pro!

Tonight he was being a little stinker. While I went to pump he decided to pull his feeding tube out, during a feed. So, they had to replace it. And, of course, he continues to attract all sorts of attention. Several nurses stopped by to say hi to him tonight, both ones that have had him and ones who haven't. Everyone who stops by comments on his hair.

Welcome Mario! We watch your progress daily and are glad to see you are doing so well! Congrats Dom and Annie; I know you two must be beaming with pride.

May the Lord continue to bless your family.
